Are pages turned into pictures?

No. We do not flatten each page to a screenshot. Selectable text should remain selectable. Only embedded raster images are re-encoded.

Why did my file stay the same size?

There may be no compressible images, they may already be small, or a stronger preset may be needed. Unusual encodings (for example JPEG2000) are skipped.

FAQ

Usually not. This tool saves space by compressing images inside the file. Letters, vectors, and fonts are left alone, so a text-heavy PDF may barely change.
